Overview
Post-treatment care is the structured recovery plan provided after a vein procedure. It helps patients understand what to do, what to avoid, what is normal, and when to contact the office.
Because vein treatments vary, aftercare should be personalized. EVLT, RFA, VenaSeal, Varithena, ClariVein, phlebectomy, and sclerotherapy each have different instructions.
What Post-Treatment is used for
- Walk regularly after treatment
- Wear compression if recommended
- Avoid prolonged sitting or standing early in recovery
- Avoid strenuous exercise until cleared
- Keep dressings clean and dry if used
- Avoid hot baths or hot tubs for the recommended period
- Attend follow-up visits and ultrasound checks
- Call the office with unusual or concerning symptoms
How the treatment works
Mild bruising, tenderness, tightness, firmness, itching, or discoloration may occur depending on the treatment. These effects often improve with time.
What to expect
Patients should contact the office for worsening pain, significant swelling, fever, drainage, severe redness, shortness of breath, chest pain, or symptoms that feel unusual. If symptoms are urgent or severe, call 911.
Recovery and aftercare
Recovery instructions are personalized to the specific procedure performed. The care team provides written guidance and is available for follow-up questions.
Insurance and medical necessity
Post-treatment care is typically part of the treatment plan. Follow-up visits and ultrasound may be billed according to insurance requirements.
